Patoienchem Fest (the feast of the coconut and jaggery sweet packed in leaves) is celebrated on every 15th of August on Independence Day in the church grounds of Socorro village, Bardez at 9:00am till 3:00pm. It’s the Feast of our Lady of Assumption as well.
This year’s theme will be Music but dont worry you will be also able to have Patoleo with over more than thirty dishes to be served. Enthusiastic villagers of Socorro prepares this feast where everything is free for all who cared to come. Sur (toddy), pudde, sanna, vhon, patoleo (all traditional Goan sweets) with later a meal of rice, samarchi coddi (spicy yellow coconut prawn-curry). There is also entertainment for all. This event is organised by the Socio-Art and Cultural Association, Porvorim. In keeping with the unique style of its organisers, it has no sponsors, no chief guests and no prizes! Everyone will appreciate.
