Jagor is Goa’s oldest rituals. Jjagor, being held in different villages of Goa by different communities and in different ways to invoke the local gods and spirits. “Jagor, the word itself means to keep the vigil or to remain awake all through the night. It is invoking and worshipping of local spirits and gods. It is also an excuse for all communities to come together.” J agor is performed right from Pernem to Canacona, but one jagor that has got everyone’s attention is Siolim Jagor. It is the only jagor celebrated in Goa where two communities – Hindus and Christians – come together.
