In Goa there are many ancient places, some are hidden from us whereas some you know. Some are also listed by Directorate of Archives and Archaeology. I’m from Undir a small village in Bandora which is located in Ponda. Though i was from Undir i never knew or heard about this place but when i heard about this place i was very excited to go there. I went there with my dad, uncle and 3 mates and i was astonish to see a small Shiv Linga on a rock cut huge laterite stone.
This ancient shiv ling lies in cool peaceful place in “Kulagor” at Undir. The Shiv Ling is on a rock cut huge laterite stone. The picture itself shows you that the work was left incomplete when building it. Yes it was left incomplete by Pandavas, local villagers said.
Locals said that the Pandavas had stayed for a day in this place and they built this place and water tank (500mtrs away from here) till the dawn of next day and then they left this place leaving it incomplete as one can see the stones lying there.
This is the Shiv Ling present on the huge rock, and the locals worship it and do Puja on every Monday and Thursdays and also on Mahashivratri and other occasion, as said by an old lady.
Besides this the Pandavas also built a Water Tank which is just 500mtr away from this place, you need to climb hill. The place is very cool and its covered by huge laterite stones. Entrance is narrow but one can go easily inside.
The Water tank gets dry in summer but we found some water, local says that this water tank gets full in Rainy and partial in Winter. The water is also supplied in farm “Kulaghor”.
Though the tank is somewhat surrounded by roots of huge trees its wall is not clear but you can see the incomplete water tank and its structure clearly. It also has one door inside it, its a Cave and the lady who explained about this place warned us not to spend more time near that cave or try to sneak in or throw stones.
We dont recommend you to visit this place but if you want to visit please take help of local villager.
This place is 7km away from Ponda city in Bandora village called Undir. Nearest landmark is Shri Ram Temple at Undir.
